Since opening its doors just over a year ago, Tanglewood Park has been touching the lives of more than 3,000 seniors and their families every day and has exceeded our wildest expectations. We are grateful for your support of this unique multi-agency senior service and activity center that has now received two national awards. One is called the STAR award from the National Association of Nutrition and Aging Services and the other is an Achievement Award from the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging. We are also proud recipients of the 2009 Patricia B. Johnson Community Leadership Award!
This collaboration is impacting the lives of older adults and their families in amazing ways: over 900 people have received assistance from Tanglewood’s Medical Equipment and Supply Closet; more than 835 people have participated in AgeWell’s health & wellness classes and activities; CALL-2-1-1 has connected 4,000 callers per month to community services; LifeCircles has enrolled over 60 nursing home eligible elderly in its program of all-inclusive care; Senior Resources’ Care Connections program coordinated in-home services for over 1,100 older adults and the Harbor Steel ‘Meals on Wheels’ kitchen averaged preparation and delivery of 1,300 meals each day.

“It has been a real privilege for me to support this project both with corporate and personal contributions. My business partner, Gary Merkey, my sister, Sue, and my brothers were so enthusiastic about investing in this lasting gift to the community that together we provided funding for the Fitness Center one of the most popular activity rooms at Tanglewood Park. We are grateful that we were asked to support this project early-on and are proud to be Founding Members. It is such a thrill to see a once vacant building full of activity and offering a wide variety of services to older adults and their families. I only wish Tanglewood Park had opened years ago so that my parents could have enjoyed the facility.”
